How to setup the SonicWave 600 series on WNM

Description

This article explains how to set up and register the SonicWaves 600 series on WNM.

Note: The steps in this article apply to SonicWave 200, 400, and 600 series access points managed by WNM (cloud). If the SonicWave is currently managed by a firewall and you want to move it to WNM, first follow How to move SonicWave from firewall to WNM, and then return to this article.

The following licenses are required to deploy a SonicWave with WNM:

NOTE: Steps 1–4 are optional if the SonicWave is already registered with MySonicWall.

  1. Download and install the SonicExpress app from the App Store (iOS) or the Google Play store (Android).
  2. Log in to the app using your MySonicWall username and password. Any SonicWave previously registered with MySonicWall appears.

  1. To add a new SonicWave to your WNM, scan the QR code on the SonicWave or its packaging from within the app.

  1. From the app Console, verify the SonicWave appears in your device list.

  1. Initially, the SonicWave should be showing as offline or unmanaged.
  2. Login to Wireless Network Manager
  3. If the devices still not showing on WNM, synchronization between WNM and MySonicWall tenant devices is required. Please follow the instructions in this KB: How to synchronize APs with mySonicWall account on WNM
  4. If it is still not visible, please make sure that the devices are under the same tenant of your WNM. How to visualize devices from other tenant on WNM
  5. After the devices are displayed on WNM, Navigate to Network | Zones
  6. Click the + button to add the SonicWave to a zone.

  1. Insert a name, and description, select a location, AP Policy, and Switch Policy.
  2. Click the + button

  1. Select SonicWave to be added to the zone.
  2. Click Add

  1. Now the SonicWave should be online. Ready to apply SSID Policies
  2. Navigate to Policies | SSID Policies
  3. Click the + button to add a new SSID to the SSID Group

  1. Insert an SSID name.
  2. Select the authentication type and passphrase.

  1. Select the VLAN if any.
  2. Click Save.

  1. Navigate to Network | Zones and apply the created AP Policy
  2. Click OK

  1. Now the SonicWaves should broadcast the SSID configured.
